Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Pazhaya Seevaram.
This temple is situated on the Chengalpattu to Kancheepuram highway five kilometres before Walajabad. It is situated on a small hill with picturesque surroundings at the junction of three rivers Palar, Cheyyar and Vegavathi. There is a small motorable road to the hill. The hill is called Padmagiri hill
The Moolavar here is Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy holding Lakshmi on his lap in santha swarupam. Thayar here is called Ahobilavalli. The legend of the temple says that Athri Rishi got darshan of Lord Vishnu in the form of Lakshmi Narasimhar here. It is also said that the Moolavar in Kanchi Varadaraja Perumal Temple was originally here in the hill top Mandapam and was taken to Kancheepuram and installed. In view of this even today every year during Maatu Pongal day the Utsavamoorthy of Varadaraj Perumal temple visits this temple popularly called as “Paarvettai”. Andal here is in separate Sannidhi and the Oonjal Mandapam here is exquisite looking. A grand view of Palar river can be seen from the top of the hill. The Chola era inscriptions on the outer wall of the temple tells about the antiquity of the temple.
The temple can be reached by road (around 65 kms from Madras) on the Chengalpattu- Kancheepuram highway after Palur. It can also be reached by EMU Tirumalpur train from Madras Beach. You have to get down at Palaya Seevaram station and the temple is at a distance of 1 km from the station which one can travel by Auto/share auto.
