Thiruvalidayam Temple, Padi The above Chola era Thevara Padal Petra sthalam is situated in Padi half a km away from the main road leading to Avadi opposite TVS group of Factories.The temple deity has been sung by Thirugna Sambandar the 7th century Saivite saint and is one of the 32 Thondai Mandala Padal Petra Sthalam. The temple has also been visited by Arunagirinathar, Vallalar and Pamban Swamigal.The temple is a Guru parihara sthalam and a separate shrine is there on the outer prakaram. The temple is entered through a three tiered Raja Gopuram on the eastern side. The place has been called “ Thiruvalidayam” right from Chola period as mentioned in the inscriptions on outer walls of the sanctum. It is seen that only the sanctum seems to belong to 12th century Chola era as seen from the inscriptions and the Gaja prashta Vimanam.
