The  Ani Annamalaiyar  brought from  Kasi was first  installed  here around which temple came up. 100 years ago Mouna Guru swamigal  alias Thinnai  swamigal used to  sit opposite the  temple in a Thinnai  and meditate. The  temple also has sannidhi for  Varadharaja  Perumal  with  Boodevi and Sridevi  facing  North  in standing  posture.
